Veronica gently placed Thietris on the
floor. There were several embarassing minutes passed as
she tried to disentangle the Professor from the personal
item. Free at last, she unlocked the neighborhood book
and placed it in front of him.
He said, "I still
don't understand how I ended up here and my head
hurts."
Veronica said, "I don't either, but I
will not tell anyone what happened here if you
won't."
"Agreed." And Thietris linked away. To
the balcony. As Veronica forgot to turn the
page.

Veronica is now starting to accuse
Professor T of sarcasm, as well as interfering with her
wardrobe. He argues that he didn't know where he was and
was just ... interested.

"Certainly Professor, I'll make the
cocoa while you and Veronica jump over the balcony.
Veronica is quite the expert now so it shouldn't take
you long"
Cordelia throws
a couple of umbrellas up to the Professor and Veronica
on the balcony.
Then she rushes off to make the
cocoa and retire to her Relto for a well earned sleep -
which she needs to recover from all the hilarity of the
day

After successfully accomplishing the
jump, Veronica glared at Professor Thietris a moment,
then stalked off down the steps to the DISCO. She found
Grizz at the counter, and told him that the envelope he
had told her about wasn't in the office. She had looked
everywhere.
Grizz's face took on a rather set
look. He mumbled, "I was afraid of that...what to
do...what to do?" He reached a decision. Taking the
envelope with Veronica's name on it from his pocket, he
handed it to her.
"I want you to take this. Don't
open it now, in fact, don't open it at all unless
something should happen to me."
Veronica opened
her mouth, but Grizz cut her off before she could say
anything. "Just hear me out. If I should disappear
without telling you where I'm going and when I'll be
back, and you don't hear from me in 24 hours, then I
want you to open that envelope. But only then. Keep it
with you and keep it safe. I don't want you involved if
I can keep you out of it."
Veronica looked
scared. Grizz patted her hands holding the envelope.
"Don't worry," he said. "I'm probably just imagining
things, and nothing will happen at all. I just want to
be sure you have that so someone will know what's going
on. Now you take the night off. Go to the A&C.
Make more friends. Dance if you feel like it. I hear you
have the 'chicken dance' down pat!" Grizz crinkled his
eyes at her. "And maybe that nice young RW will be
there."
He smiled at her and turned to go. He
turned back instead. "I really do depend on you, you
know, and I'm really happy that you came to the hood.
Now get out of here and enjoy
yourself.!!"

Almech, wondering how he will ever catch
up with the events going on above, continues to flip
through the book he had discovered.
When
writing a link, details can be left out if you do not
mind leaving the results up to chance. However, if too
many details are left out the age may not turn out as
you wanted it to.
"Hmm, I wonder what happens
with no details or information at all." Almech reaches
for one of the blank books and writes two
words.
vacation resort
"Now THAT is not what I had in mind."
Almech muttered.
Chere links back into the Hood from THE
GREAT COMEDY CLUB. She can't seem to stop chuckling. She
has spent the day researching plants and flowers which
will grow in low light and investigating whole spectrum
lighting. Now to find the perfect location for
CHERE'S WONDER HOME OF ORIGINAL PLANTS SHOPPE or
WHOOPS.
"I really would like to locate on
the fountain level. I could catch all the visitors as
they arrive and it seems it would make a nice visual
greeting as well," she thinks. "I'll have to check with
Cordelia or the Professor to see if the area is still
available. I can do as Grizz does and leave the shop
open when I'm off exploring."
Chere writes a note
to Cordelia and the Professor regarding her plans and
leaves it in the classroom. She wanders toward the great
smells of roasting hot food. It's been a busy day; food
and coffee would be welcome. She takes a plate of food
and sits on the stairs by the fountain to
relax.
After exploring the entire day (and
missing the comedic events dealing with Thietris and
Veronica), Speedy, Grassie, and Dr. Warrell all finally
left the mansion and sat by the fountain. "Wow, what
a day..." said Dr. Warrell as he wiped his
brow. "Indeed. I found some rather interesting stuff
in there," said Grassie. "Such as?" asked
Speedy. "I took notes on the different kinds of foods
they possibily could have stored, based on the smells
from the food jars in the storage room. See the list,"
Grassie said as he passed the list to Dr. Warrell and
Speedy. They both looked at it. Shelves: 6 jars
- 'preserved' fruits (long since greened); did not open
for fear of smells be too strong 3 metal cans -
sealed lids; cannot see inside unless punctured hole;
metal not like aluminum or steel 4 boxes - holes
chewed so contents empty (results of
mice/rats?) Barrels -> 3 - wine (grapes mainly; 2
have scents of apples and one had taste of
mint)
"You tasted the wine?" asked
Speedy. "Hey, I had to be sure about what was in
there, and I am a mead connoseuir!" Grassie pointed
out. "How did it taste?" she asked. "Pretty
good... prossibly some good tidbits for improving the
mead," Grassie replied. "Is that it?" asked Dr.
Warrell. "No, I found this in a jar," Grassie said as
he pulled out a book. "A journal?" asked Speedy as
she took it. "Exactly. And it has a snake on the
cover. I found another book in the study, one with a
swirl," "Great! Three down..." said
Speedy. "Three?" asked Dr. Warrell. "Yeah, I found
one in one of the bedrooms..." Speedy said as she pulled
out the book. It had a badger on the cover. "And
guess where I found it?" she said. "Where?" asked
Grassie. "In a badger doll," "Wow, they like
badgers here, don't they?" asked Grassie. "Well, they
like mushrooms and cactuses as well. I found books with
those items on the cover in the greenhouse. I believe
they used artificial light so they could grow them... I
find a few dried out mushrooms in there too," Dr.
Warrell said. "Great! Five linking books, five
journals! Let's bring this back to Thietris and then
start reading," Grassie said as he took his list back
and packed this things. "Ok, let's go!" said
Speedy. Soon, these three were on their way back,
talking about what else they had
found.
Studying gives you knowledge. Knowledge
is power. Power corrupts. I am learning how to be
corrupt.
Long after Veronica has gone, Grizz sits
at the counter working on the books again. There seems
to be a problem. Someone couldn't find what they wanted.
Grizz checks the index book. The item is listed right
there, in the third sub-level. He supposes he better go
down and check.
He gets a lantern lighted, and
makes his way down through sub-levels one and two.
Things are fine here, as always. On sub-level three,
though, things are always odd, even eerie. The light
seems somehow to be absorbed almost before it can leave
the lantern. It seems to give effective light for only
about a foot past the glass. It makes navigation here
difficult. But Grizz knows the layout well, and makes
his way steadily towards the right spot.
He gets
closer. Then, as he passes a particularly dark alcove,
he sees a shadowy something come out of the darkness at
the right and block his way. He bumps it before he can
stop, and it feels almost like an arm. He steps back,
and feels another 'arm' behind him as the one in front
touches him again. Strangely, he is not apprehensive.
Somehow he senses no animosity. He is simply not allowed
to move. Then there is a linking sound, and the darkness
around him gets profoundly darker. Grizz wonders as he
dematerializes whether this was what happened to Phil
the first time he
disappeared.

Almech, still wondering what had
happened above, continues to read.
The D'ni
regarded writing bizarre Ages, Ages that would defy
the laws of nature as the D’ni knew them, as unsafe and
put restrictions on doing so. It is suggested you do not
try writing bizarre ages.
"I wonder what
happens when you write a bizarre age with as little
description as possible?" Almech wondered aloud.
Grabbing another blank book, he wrote a short
description.

Almech,
linking in, discovers himself standing on a small island
of water in a sea of land. The water is solid, but
spongy. A tree suddenly surfaces from the land and
begins to swim towards the island.
"I suppose the
D'ni had good reasons for restricting bizarre ages."
Almech said as he reached for his relto
book.
